Enterprise Ireland has held an event in London highlighting the opportunities for investment in Ireland in the food industry, which was attended by 75 decision makers from UK and other international companies.
Hosted by the Embassy of Ireland, London, the theme of the event was ‘Accelerate Your Business in Europe’ and the role that Ireland and the Irish food sector can play in driving company growth.
This event reflected the high level of investment activity in the food sector over the past year, and the record number of new food projects supported by Enterprise Ireland - over €87m was invested by European companies in the Irish agri-food sector in 2013, almost 50pc of which came from the UK.
Ranjit Singh, CEO of 2 Sisters Food, parent of Green Isle Foods, was at the event. Green Isle recently announced a €30m investment creating 115 jobs in Ireland.
Minister of State Tom Hayes TD said the purpose of today’s event was to encourage similar projects in Ireland.
“We aim to make Ireland the go-to European location for mobile food manufacturing operations. Ireland has strength and depth in the food and food-related sectors and is gearing up to deliver sustained export growth.”
