HLB Sheehan Quinn concludes 30-day challenge in aid of LauraLynn atop the Dublin mountains!

October 2020 – We are delighted to announce the HLB Sheehan Quinn team has successfully completed its 30-day challenge of ‘going the distance’ in aid of LauraLynn, exceeding the 3,000km target by 569km and raising a total of €4,580 for Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.

As part of a global network-wide initiative on Friday October 9th called #HLBCommunities Day, for which staff from firms across the HLB international network dedicated time towards local charities and cause-related activities in their areas, the HLB Sheehan Quinn team marked the conclusion of its fundraiser for LauraLynn by hiking across the Ticknock trail in the Dublin mountains.

Over the course of the 30 days leading up to #HLBCommunities Day on October 9th, members of the team collectively gathered up the kilometres by walking, running, and swimming in an attempt to hit the combined team target of 3,000km.

To abide by social distancing guidelines, each participant undertook the challenge on an individual basis, but ultimately contributed their own individual score to that of the overall team, in the spirit of the HLB mantra ‘Together We Make It Happen.’

A total of €2,290 was raised over the course of the 30-day period via GoFundMe with HLB Sheehan Quinn matching the total amount raised through donations to make an overall contribution of €4,580 to LauraLynn.

The funds will go directly towards supporting the specialist care LauraLynn provides to children with life-limiting conditions and the important assistance services provided to help their families.

Mark Butler, Managing Partner of HLB Sheehan Quinn said: “The pandemic has caused major disruption to the day-to-day running of businesses in Ireland, and elsewhere, with most companies operating with a partially displaced workforce at present. HLB Communities Day gave us a chance to pull together, albeit while apart, in support of an extremely worthy cause in LauraLynn at an especially challenging time for foundations and charitable organisations.”

“I would like to extend my immense gratitude to all our generous donors and sponsors who kindly contributed to the fundraising effort over these past few weeks. We are very pleased to match the goodwill of those who have contributed to our fundraiser by matching the overall figure raised. We are hopeful our efforts will go towards making a small but meaningful impact in supporting the great work of LauraLynn.”

“I also wish to congratulate our committed and spirited team on their collective achievement which shows the power of teamwork, particularly in the wake of pandemic imposed restrictions.”

Niamh Doyle of LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice added: “All of us at LauraLynn, Ireland's Children's Hospice just want to say a big thank you to all at HLB Sheehan Quinn for under-taking such a huge challenge to raise funds for the work we do in LauraLynn. It is so heartwarming to see people finding new ways to fundraise and come together at a time when we must stay apart.”

“The funds raised will help LauraLynn to continue to provide vital care and supports to children with life-limiting conditions and their families across the country. Now more than ever, every donation counts and we are so grateful to all who supported this fundraiser.”
